Weirdlings is where my stories live, but I don't make them alone. The ideas start with me; Barry Linck and Scott Hedlund help bring them to life. Every good team-up has an origin story, and we have two.

I met Barry first. He was a local Pittsburgh creator, and it looked like we'd grown up on a lot of the same stuff, so we set up a breakfast at Eat'n Park. I swear that breakfast lasted for hours. We had so much in common that we were friends before the check came, and Barry was generous enough that very first day to say, "Let's work on something together."

I met Scott at the Pittsburgh Comic Con. I'd set up a table with some ashcans of what I was working on at the time, and Scott came by to show me his portfolio. It was really good. A week later he sent over some very cool fan art, and that turned into a conversation about working together. If memory serves, our first collaboration was a pitch for Witchblade.

Those two meetings turned into years of projects and a lifelong friendship, all built on a shared love of comics. I couldn't be happier with where it's taken us.

A little about me

\n

I'm a writer based in Western Pennsylvania. I write horror, fantasy, and literary fiction, which I publish through New Isca Press, and my webcomics live here. I read widely, and I review what I read, along with the movies, comics, and tabletop RPGs that have shaped my imagination, at Renewed Memories.

\n

By day I work in strategy and innovation, figuring out how things could work better. That habit follows me home: I build my own tools, tinker with automation, and treat my writing process like one more system worth improving. I almost always write with music on, picking it for the mood of the scene. When I'm not at the keyboard, I'm exploring the region I call home or spending time with my family.
